Liz Makes Hazelnut and Gingerbread Macarons

Liz is meeting up with several sewing/knitting bloggers this weekend for a get-together, and as a treat… she wanted to make a batch of macarons for them to have, during their outing on Saturday. So by the time I got home on Friday, she was already a whirlwind of activity in the kitchen.

Piping out the macaron shells.

Mmmm.

I forgot that she asked me to create a template for her in Photoshop, years ago, so she had some kind of guide when spacing these guys out.

Fresh from the oven.

Adding some vanilla buttercream.

The finished product! In addition to the standard vanilla buttercream, she also made a version with nutella.

I’m always in awe of macarons, as they require a great deal of precision in terms of temperature and cooking time. I know Liz has perfected her approach, but there were an awful lot of trial and error attempts. Delicious, delicious trial and error attempts.

  1. That reminds me of when my Mum was learning to make Pavlova, so many delicious flops to take care of afterwards, yummy!
