Couch to 5K: Week 6, Trying to Outrun the Cold
Liz and I have been doing our running in the mornings, and so far that’s been working out pretty well. With a slight increase in the overall time (and us adding in some ab exercises, immediately afterwards)… we try to get out the door as close to 7 AM as possible.
And lately? It’s been pretty darned cold out there. I think this morning the temperature was 41, but the “feels like” temp was 35. When Liz asked if I had any gloves to wear, I thought for a second and realized – Yes! I did.
Check out these original Q101 fingerless gloves, from back in the day! I got these eons ago, back when we were still at the Merchandise Mart, with our office tucked inside Q101’s studios.
Ever since then, they were sitting in a drawer at my work desk. I maybe put them on once in the last five years.
But today, my packrat tendencies get a small victory. Not only did the gloves help keep my hands warm-ish, I was also able to navigate my iPhone timer to keep us on pace for our run.
Today’s run was a tough one, split up into two segments: 10 minutes running, 3 minutes walking, and then another 10 minutes running. Things are going to get very interesting… as today was our last “split” time day.
For the remaining 3.5 weeks on the Couch to 5K program, every run from here on out is going to be a solid session of at least 20+ minutes (with the last week being 30 minute runs).
