Dinner with Old Friends
On Saturday Liz and I went over to visit Alex and Linda, who were in town and staying over at Ray’s Bucktown B&B. We prepared a few dishes to bring over, and on arriving… joined everyone in the kitchen.
A classic shot of Justin and Alex in their natural state – cooking in the kitchen.

Whenever the Galts visit, they always come with plenty of cheese in tow.

We had a wide range of food and folks. When I first heard about the visit, I thought it would just be Alex and Linda. Earlier in the day, I found out that Katie, Carrie and Tom would also be joining – folks I haven’t seen in about 8 or 9 years!
We didn’t spend a ton of time with the kids, as Johanna and Frida were busy with Hazel and Nora (Carrie and Tom’s kids). So beyond a few check-ins, the kids played in various rooms at the B&B and the adults hung out in the kitchen. We had a delicious array of food (tuna, salmon, pasta, salad, roasted veggies), great cheese, a few bottles of wine, and some custom mixed drinks (courtesy of Justin’s tinctures) at the end of the meal.
I have to say – Ray, the owner of the B&B, was incredibly accommodating to let so many of us take over the kitchen. The whole place is pretty stellar: Justin stayed here when he was between apartments, and this is the second time Alex and Linda have stayed here for a weekend visit. It was a delight to hang out there, and I can only imagine it’s just as fun to stay there.
