The Difference Between Holland and the Netherlands

I found this video by C. G. P. Grey on the difference between Holland and the Netherlands pretty darn fantastic. It’s a very non-stop, face-paced kind of video (and reminded me a bit of Jay Smooth in its pace and humor), but does a great job of untangling the common mistakes people make about the Netherlands (the country) and its Provinces (North Holland and South Holland, in particular).

Around 1:50 though, just when you think you’ve got a good grasp on things… you’re introduced to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which expands the scope of where we’re talking about considerably.

Really interesting side note: in a little less than a week, Liz and I will be heading on a cruise with some of Bob’s family. It’s a trip that’s been in the works for a good while now, with plans having been made some time back in Spring of 2012.

We’ll be leaving Florida, and headed to the Bahamas. But we’ll also be stopping in Aruba and Curaçao along the way – both of which are countries that belong to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Small world.

This was my first introduction to C. G. P. Grey, and I’m digging the style of his videos. You can see other topics he’s covered via his website, or you can subscribe to his videos on YouTube. I lost a bit of time, looking through all the ones he’s posted up.
