Craig Wedren: Rain Diamonds

Craig Wedren used to play guitar and sing for a band called Shudder to Think, whose album Pony Express Record is still one of my all-time favorites.

This song is much more melodic than a lot of STT songs, but there are aspects of it that remind me why I loved Wedren’s songwriting style so much – the way the vocals seem to wander a little bit, mixing in some dissonance before settling down comfortably into the main tune of the song. Though I haven’t listened to all of his solo work, this one has been my favorite by far.
