Gregory Alan Isakov: Amsterdam

Lately, I haven’t been able to stop listening to Gregory Alan Isakov’s album The Weatherman. I’ve been playing it for the better part of a week, and really just digging many of the songs.

Recently Liz and I travelled to southern Illinois for a family wedding, and this album is something that kept us company for the long drive up and down I-55. In particular, it’s what I listened to on a brief loop while Liz took a late afternoon nap on our way back to Chicago.

I’m slowly weaning myself off of Suitcase Full of Sparks, and have latched on to the first song on the album – Amsterdam. Really lovely stuff, and since he’s more of a baritone… a lot of the songs are in my range. I’m finding myself listening more to the lyrics on the train rides to and from work, slowly trying to memorize the songs.
