The Morning Benders: Crosseyed

Been listening a lot to “Talking Through Tin Cans,” by The Morning Benders. They’re not a group I really thought I would like, but I happened across this album and have been playing it with some regularity.

This one song in particular, Crosseyed, has caught my ear. I think it’s the key changes (minor/major) that really make this song pleasurable – it’s something I wanted to learn how to play on the guitar (despite the song being totally out of my range).

Interesting note: just saw on their website that the band learned of some negative connotations to the word “bender” in the UK. As a result, they ended up changing their names (despite having used it for over 7 years, previously).

This happened back in 2012. So I guess even though I use Rdio to discover new music, it’s typically old music. But it’s new old music to me.
