Warming the House with a Large Blanket
I came home to find that there is now a large curtain, draped over the small landing we have on our stairs to the second floor.
The curtain comes courtesy of Meg, and Liz put it up in an effort to help retain some of the heat on our first floor. A lot of the heat coming up just rushes up the stairs into the second floor, and this curtain actually helps keep things a little warmer downstairs.
Upstairs is a different story. But the curtain does seem to be helping the downstairs a bit. Thanks, Meg!
It’s funny to have this in the way now, as each time I go up or down the stairs I have to brush the curtain aside. It feels a lot like I’m either walking off of, or taking, a stage. And it feels doubly weird that I return downstairs not having done any kind of a costume change.
If the walls on the left look a little janky, well… we cleaned those off about a year ago. We’ll be getting a guy in there to fix up the walls, soon enough. Slowly but surely.

I’m glad it’s working out! I have a huge blanket (a gift to my parents for their wedding) sectioning off the front part of my apartment. I did not realize how much air was leaking through those windows until I put it up. I definitely agree with the getting on and off stage feeling – I like to sometimes pretend I am entering a three ring circus :)
