Gems of Wikipedia
Gems of Wikipedia is an amazing Tumblr featuring fascinating entries on Wikipedia. I’ve only had the chance to browse a few entries, but I got utterly sucked in. It’s amazing.
Yes, yes – I know that there’s a “Random Article” link in the sidebar… but you never really know what you’ll get with that. The Gems of Wikipedia site is nothing more than text links – straight and to the point.
I learned about Victor Lustig, who ended up selling the Eiffel Tower not once, but twice. And I now also have some more research to do on Timothy Dexter, who apparently wrote a book titled A Pickle for the Knowing Ones or Plain Truth in a Homespun Dress.
// Edit: Found it on Project Gutenberg!
Ok – and just now, while writing this up… I got sucked in to the article on Disaster Drafts – procedures that professional sports teams have in place, should one or more players on their team get injured/killed.
The world is just an awesome place.
