Garden Box Construction, Part 11
After work yesterday, despite an ominously gray sky, Liz and I ventured into the backyard to do some work. With one garden box ready with soil, she was going to move some of her plants outside for the first time.
Getting prepped for planting.
While Liz was doing her thing, I broke out the lawnmower for the first time this year.
I also got to try out a birthday gift from Bob and Julie: a cordless trimmer/edger.
Liz, with the garden box all ready to go (note that the pond liner has been trimmed).
Liz, excited.
Lines drawn.
Assessing.
Glad to have the yard mowed. It was starting to get a little out of control there.
Of course, it was nothing like how it used to be.
Getting more plants in the ground. Er, box.
“Her own thoughts and reflections were habitually her best companions.”
We also picked up a trellis over the weekend, and threw some screws to affix it to the side of the garden box.
We needed something sturdy for the two spaghetti squash that Liz planted. I’m told that these things are going to get big. Liz wasn’t sure if two was a good number, or way too much.
I guess we’ll find out! Hard to believe that there was once a time when I didn’t know about spaghetti squash. Ever since we first cooked it, I’ve been a fan. Looking forward to having some that we raised ourselves!
And by we, I mean Liz.
