Backyard Fence Prep Day 4
With Wednesday evening looking like rain, yesterday was our last day to get the leveling and grading done.
Liz, measuring out the slope of the yard, and getting the soil to match.
Honestly, she did the brunt of the work today. I pulled out some roots, but she mostly raked everything and cleared a path. I followed her with the tamper, and gave everything a good punch – hoping to solidify the ground a bit.
We actually finished earlier than I thought, so we used the extra time to work on the yard itself. I mowed the lawn while she used the rake to remove a lot of thatch from the ground.
When I got done mowing, I ended up helping her – but she did the brunt of the work. This was a Liz day!
The fence area, as prepped as it’s gonna get. Hopefully this gives the crew a good space to work with, and they won’t run into any complications when pouring the posts, or doing the actual install.
Until now, I’ve been nervous about us finishing things in time. We’ve been working pretty hard recently (4 out of the last 5 days), and it feels like we’ve rushed right back into a period of busyness immediately after our vacation.
Still though – this one big hurdle is done. And if the weather holds up, we’ll be looking at a new fence going into the weekend. How exciting is that?
