Harvesting the First Spaghetti Squash

Last night, while working in the backyard, Liz decided it was time to harvest one of the spaghetti squash.
Some of the squash have gotten so big, they require their own slings for support.

This guy is the one Liz felt was ready.

Going in…

Gently removing the squash and sling. Liz mentioned that you wanted to leave part of the stem on, as the squash would continue to draw nutrients from it, even after being taken off the vine.

Doing a little tap test.

Liz, super excited. As we were walking back to the house, I can just tell how happy she was – taking in another veggie that she had started from seeds in the basement.

Hi Felix,

Cheers,

Thanks! Though I helped with the garden box construction, I think Liz deserves all the accolades for anything that’s growing inside the boxes. She’s the one that has nurtured everything, from seed to now!
