DC Vacation, Day 2: Wandering Down King Street, Dinner at Carluccio’s
In the lobby of the hotel where we’re staying, they have a nice “library” room. Funny thing is that almost all the books there were bound in a generic, white cover. Seemed doubly odd, next to an inspiration Dr. Seuss quotation about reading.
Liz and I wandered down King Street a great deal. She had a few knitting shops to visit, and I decided to camp out at a nearby coffee shop with my laptop. Because what I like to do on vaction is to hang out with my computer, in a different room.
The street lamps all along the block outside of Fibre Space were all yarn bombed.
Grabbed some coffee and a big table at Misha’s. Liz joined me here a bit later.
Our hanging out here reminded me a bit of what we did while hanging out in Austin.
While walking back to the hotel, we found a place called Escape Room Live. The sign piqued our interest, and we took an elevator up to the second floor. To our surprise, we found they had several themed escape rooms available (two of which were based on Sherlock Holmes).
Back at our room, we had a long and relaxing afternoon. Lucky us, we found Star Trek on the TV (we just started season one of the original series about a week ago, and are making our way through).
Later in the evening, we joined up with the rest of the family at Calduccio’s. We’re in town for Courtney and Andrew’s wedding, and tonight was the family dinner before the big day tomorrow.
Aunt Carolyn, with some of Andrew’s family.
More of Andrew’s family, sitting down to dinner.
Our party had pretty much the entire upstairs are to ourselves.
The happy couple, looking remarkably calm in the midst of everything.
Some of the Jung family.
Jordan, helping my dad a bit with his phone.
Jasmine and Jahnu, being goofy, while my sister looks on.
Back in our hotel room, closing out the evening with some classic Star Wars. Situation normal. We’re fine, we’re all fine here…
