Joe Pug: Hymn #101

I’ve been listening to Joe Pug lately. Specifically, putting Hymn #101 on loop for a lot of the day.

The more I listen to him, the more I become enamored of his writing and lyrics. There are a lot of sections to this song that I want to cite, but let’s just go with the opening lines:

And I’ve come to know the wishlist of my father
I’ve come to know the shipwrecks where he wished
I’ve come to wish aloud, among the overdressed crowd
Come to witness now the sinking of the ship
Throwing pennies from the seatop next to it

The more I explore his albums, the more I know that it’s just a matter of time before I fixate on another song. Expect to see more songs from him here in the future.

As always, here’s the link if you’re a weird, obsessive listener like me.
