SpaceX Falcon Heavy Test Launch

Today, SpaceX conducted their Falcony Heavy test launch, and it was broadcast on YouTube live.

I found out about the launch earlier in the day, and was able to tune in from my desk. It was a pretty spectacular experience, even as someone who was only slightly familiar with the details of the rocket.

For test flights, a dummy payload is typically used due to simulate weight. While this is usually concrete or steel, Elon Musk decided to use something different – complete with a David Bowie soundtrack.

The launch itself is incredibly, but the most amazing thing to me was the landing of the side boosters.

And, as an extra stroke of awesomeness, you can tune in to the live view of Starman online. As many have joked online, we finally got our flying cars of the future.
