A Truck on the Tracks

While standing and waiting for our train to arrive, I heard a slight rumbling along the tracks, heading towards downtown. By the time I registered what had happened, I wasn’t fast enough to grab my phone out of my pocket.

I snapped this passing shot a little late, but at least you can see what the sound was: a “rail testing” truck, with wheels designed to propel it along the train tracks! I’m really curious about this now, and wonder how it works.

And hey – a little Google search later, and I found a lot more information, the company that owns the truck, and a video to boot!

I’m not much of a film buff, but I feel like I should be ending this post with some kind of Werner Herzog pun.
