Remembering WarGames
Liz and I spent a lazy night rewatching WarGames on TV. I remember seeing this movie on HBO as a kid a great deal, and found it funny to be rewatching it again so many years later (streaming online, via a PS4).
The end scene at NORAD still holds up. Particularly funny thing: with captions enabled, there are some really great juxtapositions.
I went back and found this particular moment, which I thought was quite descriptive and appropriate.
It’s odd that I’m still so terrible at remembering some things – people’s names, for example. Or birthdays. But by god, there’s a small part of my brain that has expended considerable time and effort to allow me to remember that the password to access David Lightman’s imaginary school computer is ‘pencil’.
