Found Heart

Yesterday, I went in to work early and took a different path to the train. Walking along 53rd, a lot of the road had been torn up and they were putting down fresh tar. It was early, and not too many people out yet – and even fewer cars around, given the construction.

I looked down, and a glint of metal caught my eye.

I flipped the heart over, thinking that maybe it was from a dog or cat collar, with either an inscription or some information on the back. I was surprised to find this.

Given the colors, I assume some reference to Germany. A random, lovely little thing to encounter on my way downtown.
