Work Work and Home Work
I had a not productive day at work. It was just one of those days where I was battling my computer at every turn, and really questioned why I was pecking away at a keyboard all day.
I was struggling getting some end-to-end tests working (super frustrating because things had been working prior to today, and stopped). And I also failed in setting up something on a coworker’s machine (something I had previously set up successfully on another coworker’s machine).
All in all, not a great tech day. I felt very unproductive, to say the least.
On getting home, I suited up to do a bit of demo. To clear some room for work that Bob’s got planned, I needed to finish up the cabinet demo from about two months ago.
It wasn’t a lot, but it was messy. Some plaster and lathe (with a lot of old dusty and soot everywhere). And a few studs to cut clear.
Surprisingly, though this was more work after a full day of work… I felt pretty good afterwards. I definitely felt more productive after this session, so I guess that worked out overall.
Even if I was writing code that kept breaking, here at home… actually breaking things was what I was supposed to be doing. So all in all, a good day’s work?
