The Sound of the 80’s: Gated Reverb Drums

Happened across this video describing the happy accident of gated reverb, and how this particular sound shaped the 1980’s (and seems to be experiencing a bit of a comeback).

I like music, but am far from someone who knows the intricacies of music theory and details underneath the notes. Which is why I’m incredibly taken by the videos in the Vox Earworm series: they break down a lot of information in a way that a layman can understand.

I don’t subscribe to a ton of YouTube videos, but seeing yet another video from Estelle Caswell sold me. I love her work, and am now looking forward to going through all the videos she’s made so far. And recommend you do as well.
