Hanging Out in the Suburbs

Liz and I went out to Mike and Michelle’s house today, to hang out with them, Halley, Fritz, and another couple (Nashua and Joe). All of the women know one another via knitting activities they’ve done together, and Joe was part of the group that went out to Rhinebeck last year.

For me, I got to meet Nashua and Joe for the first time, and we all had a lot of fun talking and joking around. We chatted a bit about technology, travel, some politics, and the art of learning how to fight and argue with civility.

Halley found a kid’s trampoline that was posted on Facebook, and stepped out to grab it halfway through the afternoon. Like magic, the next thing you knew there was this trampoline on the back deck, complete with buttons that triggered electronic background music.

We all hung out a long while outside, and despite the threat of rain from the gray clouds overhead… not a drop came down on us. I’m kicking myself a bit for not taking a photo, but I’m glad I focused more on enjoying the company and conversation.

Nashua and Joe were a lot of fun to hang out with, and I hope we all get a chance to drink and talk together again.
