Frances Quinlan: Your Reply
Not content to take over my brain with her songs from Hop Along, Frances Quinlan has decided that her song “Your Reply” is now stuck in my head permanently. I’ve shifted over to this being my go-to song when I’m coding, and it’s pretty fantastic.
I’m not sure if it’s got anything to do with the fact that I inhabit essentially the same two rooms for 90% of my days. But I’ll wake up some mornings, and this song is instantly playing in my head. AS in: I barely have both feet on the ground and this song is already starting up.
I’ve gotten locked into songs before, but having it as a kind of ghost soundtrack feels like a new evoluation.
One of these days, I really need to break down all the songs that get stuck on loop for me. Getting down to the keys they’re in, chord progressions, beats per minute. I’m convinced they all share some similar attributes or arc, some commonality that makes me just listen to them nonstop, for weeks on end.
