A Brief Christms in Valpo

It was a tough decision for us, but Liz and I decided to visit Valparaiso for a brief Christmas evening with Bob and Julie.
We kept our masks on for much of the night, though we had them off while we were eating and drinking around the kitchen island. We had a chance to sample a few different scotches as we talked and caught up.
We ended up exchanging gifts in the living room, in front of the fireplace, which was a nice portion of the night.
Since March, Liz and I have tried to be good about self-isolating and avoiding contact with others as much as possible. We’re not seeing any of our other extended family this year, and I honestly can’t recall the last time I walked into someone else’s home this year.
Tonight was an important night for Liz’s folks, and also for us as well. I’d be lying if I said I felt 100% comfortable, but it’s a decision we made and something we wanted to do. A brief Christmas, after what has been a decidedly long, long year.
