Jim Croce: I’ve Got a Name
At work, a group of us participate in a Music League where each week we contribute a song based on a theme… and them vote to see which submissions we like best.
I’m proud to say that I finally won a round! Which was honestly surprising. Last week’s theme was “Road Trip” and I locked in the #1 with my submission: Jim Croce’s “I’ve Got a Name.”
It’s been ages since I’ve really listened to this song (or any of Croce’s work, really). But I used to listen to it all the time, when I made the drive from Indianapolis to Bloomington and back.
This song in particular was a favorite of mine, and hearing it almost brings about a visceral memory of not just being old enough to drive… but old enough to take on long distances.
It’s also a bit appropriate, given the upcoming trip that Liz and I have planned – driving long distances, a long ways away.
