Mary Lou Lord: Jump

I was reminded of this great/slow cover of Van Halen’s Jump, by Mary Lou Lord. I shared it on the blog a lifetime ago, back when I had a small “audioplayer” mp3 Flash module in the sidebar some sixteen years ago. But I doubt very many of you reading this now remember that time.

I think back then, circa 2006, YouTube was barely getting started. So there wasn’t a good way to share music outside of mp3 files. Well, fast forward to now and I can share this song a little easier:

I love Lord’s cover of this song, as I never really imagined a slow version of “Jump” before. There’s a tinge of melancholy that comes through, just with the pacing, that I wouldn’t expect normally. A really great cover.
