Hazard Fraught: Tracking Harbor Freight Prices Over Time

Hazard Fraught is a phenomenal website by Randy Forte that tracks Harbor Freight tool prices over time. Not only can you see the current price of a given tool, you can see how much (percentage-wise) it’s currently up or down. You can also dig into each item, and see a history of every time the item price changed, over the last year or two.

Harbor Freight is a great place to go for cheap tools. Their quality is… ok. But the price is hard to beat, and their tools arc towards the “disposable” column. That said, it’s still a great place to go as an alternative to the big box stores.

This project is really just… amazing. When I saw it, I exclaimed that this was exactly what the Internet was made for. I love that someone took the time to wrangle all this data, and to provide it for everyone else’s benefit.

Reminds me of an earlier Internet, circa the early 2000’s. I love seeing projects like this.
