A Night Out in Wrigleyville: 20×2 at Gman Tavern, Late Dinner at Mordecai, Dessert at Jeni’s

It’s been a while since Liz and I were out and about. Tonight, I was participating in 20×2 Chicago. I’m usually too nervous to eat much before getting on stage (even if it’s just for two minutes), so we ended up going out afterwards for a late dinner.

New venue tonight: Gman Tavern.

View from the stage, a few minutes before the show starts.

Soon after the show ended, Liz and I were out the door pretty quickly. It would have been nice to linger and chat with folks, but the two of us were eager to get a late dinner (it was close to 9PM by the time the show ended).

We walked a few blocks South, closer to Wrigley Field, to Mordecai. While we were drawn here by their whisky list, the two of us ended up getting cocktails instead. Liz got the Mango Methuselah (turmeric vodka, mango carrot shrub, becherovka, lemon, lavender, black pepper) while I got the Bills in Foil (tequila, agave, lime, pear cider).

The bar itself was pretty slick.

After dinner, on our way back to the car, we popped in to a local Jeni’s Ice Cream.

We got there just before they closed, and grabbed two pints for the road to go.

While it was fun to be speaking in public again, it was definitely very nice and relaxing to just hang out after the show. Got in a little down time, a little quiet, and some nice food and drink.
