Getting a Head

As of last week, the policy where I work now has all employees needing to be in the office at least two days each week. It’s annoying, and I disagree with its efficacy in terms of benefits and overall corporate culture… but they’re tracking it all. So I need to go in.

Honestly, the requirement is probably good for me physically – as it requires me to leave the house and actually do some walking. As another bonus – I get to see more random things each day, that I otherwise wouldn’t see when just working from my home office.

A fun thing about being downtown in the “early” morning (this was circa 8:30 AM)… you get to see all manner of folks setting up for the day.

I’m out of practice, taking random, spontaneous photos. But I paused and grabbed this shot, because who doesn’t love a giant head on the ground?

On the way home, leaving work… I passed by Daley Plaza again. And this time, saw a very large doll. Whose name, I would later learn, was Lele.

Turns out, this was a hand-made doll from Queretaro, Mexico… and was part of the celebrations for Mexico Week in Chicago.

It seems there was a stage, along with several musicians/performers throughout the day. I heard some music earlier in the day… but didn’t see any of this at all.

On my way to the train, all I really saw was a very large doll. Sad to have missed all the other festivities.
