Christiana Lakehouse 2023, Day 3: Hand Made Pizzas, an Endless Game of Monopoly, and a Late Movie Night
Shortly after breakfast, the kids decided to break out Monopoly (rainy day today). They asked if I wanted to join, and I have to tell you… I debated, but decided to decline. Boy did I dodge a bullet there.
This photo is some four hours later, and everyone was still in the game. Note the hotels. I think everyone was starting to get burned out, but no one was willing to stop playing. Playing a never-ending game of Monopoly seems appropriate, for a Fourth of July weekend.
Prepping for dinner.
Uncle David, about to try out some of Liz’s guac. There was a very lengthy conversation about guac prior to this, and strong opinions all around.
Outside, Lauren and Uncle David prepping the pizza oven. Lauren had a lot of dough ready, and was prepping things for a day or two prior to this evening.
Fire getting warmed up.
A steady stream of diners, grabbing slices of pizza.
Pizza and pasta salad (with some very fresh tomatoes).
A view of the fire pit, as the sun was setting.
In the evening, the kids put on Missing, a kind of action/thriller but done almost exclusively through computer and phone screens. It’s definitely something geared towards a younger audience, and definitely meant for an audience that is very comfortable with media/tech.
Definitely not a movie I’d seek out, but it wasn’t too bad overall. It’s been a long time since I’ve sat on the couch watching a movie, and I forgot how nice that feels. A nice end to a long day.
