Running a blog, especially one that’s been going on (mostly) daily for about two decades now… has some odd side effects.

Take today, for example. We had workers on the floor at work, who were cleaning the inside windows.

I felt a little weird about it, but was able to snap a few photos of these guys in action.

Because I’ve been keeping a blog for some two decades? I actually have a recorded moment in time, where I can say – oh yeah, the last time I saw workers cleaning windows at my workplace was seventeen years ago (and they were on the outside).

It’s weird, the kind of special memory powers a long-running blog imbues. I forget important things like the birthdays of close family members, the kids’ names of close friends. But by god, I’m able to remember the last time I saw a window cleaner outside my office window.

I guess technology affords us an improvement of memory. But it doesn’t guarantee that those memories are meaningful.
