Norah Jones: Shoot the Moon
I somehow found myself thinking about Norah Jones’ album “Come Away With Me” the past few days. And I listened to it again, and forgot just how much I loved it, from what seems like a lifetime ago.
A song that has more of a pull now, than it did then for me, was Shoot the Moon. And that’s the song I’ve been looping a lot, lately.
You shoot the moon and miss completely
And now you’re left to face the gloom
The empty room that once smelled sweetly
There’s a loneliness to these songs that I adore. And while it’s currently winter, the song makes me feel like I’m at the onset of Fall, when the cold has started to bite just a little.
I’m reminded a great deal of my early years in Chicago, and of my second apartment in particular.
Searching around a little, I found that the chords for this song don’t seem all that complicated. The song (as it is on the album) is a bit out of my range, but I’m wondering if I can shift keys somehow and actually play/sing this song.
Something to consider for another day. For now, I’m just content to listen and loop this song over and over.
