Scary Feathers

Among the things that Liz brought back from Valpo – this collection of… turkey feathers? I think it’s from a turkey.

Whatever it is, it’s weird. And until we find a home for it, it’s been hanging off a coat hanger, off a lamp on the first floor.

Nearly every time it catches my eye, it makes me think a hawk has flow into the house… and gotten itself entangled in our lamp. And is hanging there, exhausted, trying to gather its strength so that it can thrash itself to freedom.

I’m slowly getting used to it. Slowly. Which means that I’m also getting desensitized to that future day, when a hawk does actually fly into the house… I doubt I’ll even notice.
