Trim Delivery
Big day for us – we have a scheduled delivery of our interior trim. It’s not everything we need for the house – but it’s all for the first floor.
Preparing for the boards.
Outside, unloading the truck and trekking boards down the driveway.
That’s… a lot of trim.
I think we decided we had too much open space in the basement. And decided to fill it up.
Detail view of one of the casings. We couldn’t afford replacing the original wood (old growth Southern Yellow Pine), so we opted to go for Vertical Grain Douglas Fir – which comes close.
Liz, assessing. And slowly preparing for the task of staining every single one of these boards.
We have a lot to go through, just to do an inventory. Verify we got all the lengths we needed, review boards for damage, etc. And probably moving a lot of boards around. Space in the basement just became a premium.
Some of our plinth blocks.
And a whole mess of rosettes.
We knew our plinth blocks would be beefy, but these guys are really, really thick. Like, phone book thick. You could stun a burglar with one of these things!
Going to be an interesting process, with us staining these pieces and then atempting the install ourselves.
