A Lame Birthday Present

A sad thing about turning 50 years old: I’m eligible for the shingles vaccine.

From what I’ve heard, shingles is just absolutely terrible. So as soon as I could, I got a checkup with my doc. And when I asked about the vaccine during my visit, we got it done there and then.

It’s actually a two-parter, so I need to come back in a few months. But the first one is in the books. Er, arm.

I’m glad to have access to the vaccine, because I definitely want to avoid the disease. But as far as birthday presents go? Boo.
