Georgia Travels, Day 1

On our way to Georgia today. Out back, spotted an actual bunny rabbit on Easter morning. Which seemed worthy of capturing.

It’s a long drive down. We made a quick pit stop in Indianapolis, and grabbed lunch at Shaprio’s in downtown Indy. I was balking about stopping and losing time, but Liz convinced me to take a break and slow things down.

Shaprio’s is a formative part of my childhood, growing up in Indy. I still think of their pastrami sandwich and cheesecake, as they form the Platonic ideal of both things in my mind. Everything else pales by comparison, and it’s exactly what I ordered for lunch today.

Back on the road.

We pulled into Nashville pretty late in the evening. After unloading all our stuff from the car to the room, we dashed out to try to grab some dinner before places closed down.

We were able to make our way to Chauhan Ale & Masala House, which was surprisingly close to where we were staying. And just made it in, before they stopped seating.

Whipped Paneer: Feta, Parmesan, Lime pickle Honey, chives, fresh baked naan.

Liz got the Tandoori Chicken Tikka Masala, and I got the Masala Braised Lamb Saag.

Nearby, between the restaurant and our car, we passed by a Puttshack. We saw what looked to be an indoor minigolf course, and decided to try our luck.

Despite how late it was, and despite how tired we were, Liz and I figured on stopping in to see if they had any open slots. Luckily for us, they did.

A few minutes later, we had a drink in one hand and a golf club in another.

They definitely had some unique setups for minigolf.

I was reminded a lot of the random golf courses my sister and I would create, around the house, when we were kids.

Back at the hotel, tired from a great meal and a few rounds of golf. While the overall decor had this kind of Nashville music theme going on, this particular bit of artwork was… disconcerting, to say the least.

Despite the Orwellian nature of the decor, we fell asleep pretty quickly.
