Camp Creek Greenway Trail

There are a lot of hills near us, which makes the prospect of running… challenging. I’ll be honest, the very notion of running is a challenge to me, and throwing steep hills into the mix is a rough addition.

Luckily, we’ve found a few spots nearby that are a bit more level. It requires some driving (and some small bit of planning), but definitely a better choice than hills.

The Camp Creek Greenway Trail is about 4 miles, and is pretty easy to get to. There’s ample parking near where the trail begins and, despite some areas where mud builds up after heavy rains, is generally quite clear and clean.

It’s a very scenic trail, with some densely forested spots and some larger open spaces as well.

I was concerned about safety initially, but the trail sees a great deal of use from all sorts: runners, walkers, families, bicyclists.

Of the times we’ve come out here, there’s always several other folks also on the trail: enough people around to not make it feel like we’re the only ones around, few enough people that we’re not tripping over one another on our routes.

My distance/duration is still pretty low. But I’m slowly trying to increase my time, and the trail makes for a great place to work.
