Running Fuel
With Liz doing longer runs and logging more miles, she’s been needing to fuel more during those runs. I was peeking at some of the process, and took a few photos.
A fun variation: instead of putting straight ice into the water bladder for her running vest, she took to freezing some water that has electrolytes mixed in. So that when it melts, it doesn’t water things down. Pretty slick!
Looking over an assortment of snack options, for her run. For me, I’ve just started to incorporate snacks into my runs as I’ve just started to crest over an hour for my distances.
For Liz though, she’s navigating multiple hours and needing to bring enough food/fuel to last through her run. I heard from Tricia that when runners train for longer distances, they oftentimes end up gaining weight… due to all the food they need to consume, during their runs, to keep their energy up. Small wonder.
