Found Antiques

Was walking to the car today, and came across a series of unexpected finds.

First, this great bumper sticker. There seems to be this whole Muppets / Sesame Street religion/deity thing going on in our neighborhood.

At a trash bin near my car, I saw this beauty. I immediately wished that I had more technical skill, to repair this thing. I felt bad leaving it.

Behind the radio, I spotted this wooden box. And of course, was just too curious what was inside.

In addition to some papers (which I assume were part of the user manual), it turns out this was a Series 912 Elecronamic Tube Tester. Was not expecting this, when I opened the box up.

A part of me thinks I should have grabbed the device, but… to what end? How could I know if it was working? How could I fix it if it was broken? Unless I was willing to start stockpiling items to eventually sell at a flea market, why would I grab it?

Believe you me, I debated for longer than I should have. But ultaimtely left everything where I found it. But I did, for a brief few moments, fancy myself a vendor at Wolff’s Flea Market. This could have been a pivot, and the start of a new career.
