Halloween Eve Prep

Out and about, the night before Halloween. Spotted this in a nearby store, and the question emerges: why? Is there some huge demand for Halloween cards that I’ve been largely unaware of?

I’m hearing the ghost of Mitch Hedberg here. Halloween involves a basic transaction: the giving and receiving of candy. We don’t need to bring ink and paper into this.

I’m just not sure who gives out cards for Halloween?

Back home, Liz prepping for tomorrow. Our Halloween “game” involves sticking small pieces of velcro on every single piece of candy we give out. So it’s definitely time-consuming.

It’s also a bit of a long game. We were able to use some of the “leftover” pieces from a few a years ago, when we first made the game circa 2021.

That year we had the “hook” side of the velcro inside the electrical outlets, and had the fabric side on the candy. But since we saved all the cutoffs, we reversed things around this year.

After replacing the velcro inside the outlets with the fabric, we started to put the “hook” pieces on all the candy. And were able to re-use a lot of the cutoffs from a few years ago. Recycling, baby!

I ended up taking over for Liz, but kinda failed on my job. I was supposed to cut up the remaining lengths, but only got about a third of the way through.

The Operation game is a fun one, but the prep is killer. Lots of little pieces, and a velcro sticker for every piece of candy.
