The Giving Tree

A lazy, post-Thanksgiving day. We really didn’t do very much at all. Most of us slept in, there was just a lot of hanging out all day.

We all had a late dinner, and then ended up playing a cooperative murder mystery game at the dining room table.

This went on for a bit longer than we expected, and towards the end of the night… someone realized that the sewer line had started to back up into the first floor shower.

Earlier in the day, the kitchen sink had been a little slow to drain, which was unusual. But we were able to eventually clear it out with some hot water and running the disposal a few times.

Future note: if the kitchen sink starts to back up, it’s an indicator of something more.

After discovering this issue after midnight, we all had to scramble to figure out what to do. Essentially: no one could use the bathroom sink or bathroom toilets, anywhere in the house.

A bucket was brought in to the first floor bathroom. It kind of served as a temporary vessel, for anyone needing to pee or to brush their teeth.

Another option: a makeshift area was designated outside, by one of the trees. It was cold, but it was also private. We eventually dubbed this location “The Giving Tree.”

Some shoes by the front door, for those who had to go outside to attend to… “business.”

Not the most ideal end to the evening, but a memorable one for sure!
