Daisy Leg

Daisy’s been struggling a bit more, lately. She’s had some trouble with arthritis, and tends to favor one leg over the other… but lately, she’s been having difficulty moving around. In a few instances, she’s fallen over and hasn’t been able to right herself.

Daisy, with a support leg extended.

She’s made do. But in recent weeks, things seem to have gotten slightly worse. We’ve had to do more frequent cleanings, as she’s not really able to fully clean herself (and doesn’t seem to be able to position herself well, when going to the bathroom).

She is most definitely an elder bunny, but is still going strong despite losing much of her eyesight.

I know it’s not a good sign, but I’m holding out some hope. I think when bunnies get like this, it’s due to muscle deterioration. For now she’s still mostly mobile, but I really don’t want to imagine a time when she’s not.

Honestly, a while back… we felt like we were at risk of losing Daisy. At the time, she had been dropping a lot of weight and it seemed like a downward trajectory. Her weight since then has stabilized, but never fully recovered back to its original levels. But she’s been stable since then.
