Christmas at DePaul
It’s been several years since we last attended Christmas at DePaul. Tickets have traditionally been on a lottery system, and incredibly difficult to come by. But this year, the process updated a bit… and became more available.
Liz was able to snag a pair of ticketes for us, and we met up after work on Friday for an early dinner, before the event.

Inside Homeslice Pizza.

Starting off the evening with a few festive cocktails.
Funny story: they normally have an “Espresso Martini,” but on the menu today they had a “Polar Espresso Martini.” When I asked what the difference between the two drinks was, our server said “It comes with a ticket.”
I thought the guy was joking, but lo and behold… it came with a ticket!

Outside St. Vincent de PAul Parish.

Lovely lights, leading the way in.

I kept my camera off for most of the event. But if you’ve never been inside, it’s well worth a visit.
An odd moment: there were musical renditions of various Christmas songs, playing as folks gathered and found their seats. I recognized Fairytale of New York, which is very much a Christmas song… but not one I expected to hear inside a church.
While I didn’t capture video of the event, you can watch a prior Christmas at DePaul via PBS. Quite a lovely video, actually.

On our way home, I spotted this warning sign. Injury I get, but death seems a little… severe.
