New Drugs

I called my pain management doctor today, and was able to bump up a virtual appointment with him. Originally we were going to meet in another week or so… but I’ve been feeling that the shot I received wasn’t really doing all that much.

It’s been hard to tell with my having gotten sick. But it’s been a few days now, and the flu is working its way out… but the back pain is still very much there.

On the plus side, I’m no longer struggling to stand up from a sitting position. So that’s improved.

But when I stand, it’s uncomfortable. And the longer I stand, the more uncomfortable it gets.

I’m glad I was able to get on a call with my doc today. After some brief discussions, he agreed with me that another week wouldn’t really change anything. And he said that my earlier suspicions (from last week) were correct.

I was given a few options (medication, a second follow-up shot, and picking up exercises/training). I ended up going for all three, with the idea that I would pick up with my chiropractor once I actually felt like I could move without pain/discomfort.

I was prescribed some medication right then and there (which was a relief to hear). And I’ve got a follow-up appointment scheduled, for a second shot. So we’ll see how that goes.

Previously, I was taken a limited amount of steroids to reduce the inflammation. Those were just a 5 day supply, and ran out a few days ago. I got prescribed something stronger for the inflammation (non-steroidal, and non-addictive)… so I’m hopeful it’ll make things more manageable in the short term.
