Whitehall Summer Visit 2025, Day 1: A Morning Run, Working Remote, and a Late Night Ice Cream Run

Just because we’re on the road and visiting family doesn’t mean we need to fall off our running schedule. I say “schedule,” but so far Liz and I have tried to run every other day.

For me, I’m still feeling like I’m getting my strength and endurance back. I’m doing 30 minutes, with me running 3 minutes and then walking 2. It’s a far cry from the 10k I was able to do last year, but I hope to get back to that at some pint.

A view of the lake, on my run. While I wasn’t out super early, everything was super still. I see why so many people are drawn to live by the water.

Working from the dining room table. In the distance, I spotted a Liz in her natural habitat (reading on the couch).

Late in the evening, we were having drinks and hanging out in the living room (one of the neighbors [Jill] stopped by to join us). Someone mentioned ice cream, and on a whim… Liz and I decided to rush out to the White Duck before they closed.

We got there at 9:57PM, moments before closing time… and were greeted with a huge line of people who had the same idea. Felt lucky to be able to get ice cream close to 10PM on a Friday night, way out here in Whitehall.
