Assembling a New Old Desk
A long while back, Liz purchased a vintage/restored chemistry/lab table. Her goal was to use this as her sewing desk, with an eye to have it in our upstairs office area.

Tonight, Hugo was content to just hang out while Daisy more or less fell asleep on top of his head.
“Look at that. I’m just watching, but it feels like my heart’s going to burst.”
We have this plastic tunnel thing that we bring out, from time to time. It’s older, and not something Hugo has really seen before.
Tonight, Liz threw few pellets inside to encourage Hugo to explore. Because Hugo, for all his size and weight, is still something of a scaredy cat.
“Inside the standard lunch hour din they rise, four
seamless voices fused into one, floating somewhere
between a low hum and a vibration, like the sound
of a train rumbling beneath noisy traffic.”
The album Pale, by Toad the Wet Sprocket, was a big album for me in my late teens. I think I came across it in the last year or so of high school, and it’s an album that definitely followed me to college.
More than that, it was an album that I had on literal repeat, during my graduate school years. When I was writing poems, I’d often just loop this album non-stop (CD in the PC computer days).
Liz started to take out some of the pieces, for cleaning. And then realized someone had cut out part of the door to insert some fittings, and then patched it up again (a small square of wood). She got a few things cleaned up, but ultimately stepped back from taking the whole thing apart.
I’m not sure what I’m more impressed by: the license plate itself, or the fact that it’s within a frame that contains the full Yoda quote.
On the cork – a bit of Klingon! At least, I think it’s Klingon? See, this is what I mean about me not being sure how strong of a Star Trek fan I am.
I will say this though: when we all gathered glasses to make a toast, I knew enough to yell out Qapla’.
There is a sadness and melancholy that emanates from both of these videos. Both of these videos evoke a sense of hurt and a sense of celebration, in equal measure. As does the act of sharing these videos, I think.
Daisy has had this kind of fun before, but the “Hay Sampler” is a new experience for Hugo. We opened up this big box, and watched to see what the bunnies would do.
Came downstairs after work to find that Liz had set up an impromptu tasting of some of our various GlenDronach bottles. We had a fairly modest Valentine’s Day dinner planned, so it looks like we got to have dessert first tonight!
For no good reason, here’s a short video of Daisy and Hugo, chewing on a bit of cardboard.
This is going to be a bit of a ride, bear with me.
In the 1980’s, I was into Heavy Metal. Mostly hair metal at first. I was trying to move away from the musical instruments my parents forced me to learn (piano, violin) and was trying to learn how to play guitar.
We got an invite to watch the Season Premier of Picard, Season 3 this weekend. It’s the last season apparently, and our friends/hosts are planning on getting folks together for a viewing.
A viewing, I might add, that also will include a bottle of Chateau Picard (vintage 2386), a bottle of Klingon Blood Wine, and the new Romulan Ale (technically Rye Whiskey). Go big or go back to your homeworld, amirite?
