Double Downtown

I can’t remember the last time we went in to work together. Definitely surreal. So much of our lives since the pandemic started has been working remotely, it’s difficult to even process being downtown together for work.

Wish we had some food to give, but probably wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that. It’s funny – we’ve seen these turtles here for a few years now, but have yet to run into any of the humans that actually reside here.
As far as I know, this place belongs to the turtles… and they just allow a few random humans to occupy the large box in their backyard.
I was listening to Liz opine about her thoughts on various drams. Everyone had their opinions, but as part of her guesses Liz would mention things like Sauternes casks.
As I watched and listened, it dawned on me that Liz really likes whisky and I just like to drink. I think my palette is getting better, but she’s really done a lot more research, paid a lot more attention to things. Watching her go back and forth with Michael and Max, she’s on a whole other level than where I am.
As I was warming up, I spotted this strange sight: Elmo, on the top of a car, held down by ropes, on his back and facing the sun.
For a moment, he looked to be a Muppet Prometheus, waiting for his inevitable fate.
Today, Liz and I had a plan to just go out and about. To get out of the house some, and to just make a day of being “out” – something we don’t really do much of.
I saw that Liz got a new mousepad in the mail today. When she pulled it out from the Amazon package, and put it down next to her old mousepad… I nearly broke a rib, laughing.
The audio is tough, so you’ll really need to turn things up a lot to hear it. But I think you can catch just a little bit. At the end, she wakes up and pulls away… but it’s still a win to me, because I got to hold her as she was sleeping. Just for a little bit.
“It lies in our hands in crystals
too intricate to decipher”
I’m starting to wonder if this is actually a guy, and possibly more a gal. And if there’s a warren nearby somewhere. This bunny seems to be very present in our yard in the evenings, and occupies the same spot.
“Stop taking polaroid pictures
Said the memories
Are good enough
You always knew the right words to say
When the hard times caught up”
This is graffiti at its purest. Unadulterated, indiscriminate rage. With a modicum of attention to penmanship, to ensure the message gets through.
Liz and I were walking to breakfast this morning, and we passed by the large Wisteria that’s slowly taking over a street sign near us.
Nothing quite compares to the amazing show we got back in July. But we do have some small hawks in the area, and there’s at least one cat that prowls around. So there are a few things that could go wrong for these little guys.
“I’m sky scraping
They stay chasing
I’m like a raisin in the sun
I’m running from death’s invasion
They’re done, I’m going gray
I’m still young having mystic visions
Of the one, I hear the hum, the melody comes”
It’s still the first week, but I’m trying another Couch to 5K program. The first week is pretty basic: run for 60 seconds, walk for 90 seconds, and repeat. At the start, I thought it would be too easy, but at the end of the first day… my lungs were burning a bit.
