Camera

by Ted Kooser It’s an old box camera,a Brownie, the color and shapeof the battery out of a car,but smaller, lighter. All the good times—the clumsy picnics on the grass, the new Dodge, the Easter Sundays—each with its own clear instantin the fluid of time, all these have leaked away, leaving this shell, this little battery without a spark.

Holy Traffic, Revisited

Looking over my referrer logs, I got slammed yesterday and today. Since this morning, I’ve had roughly 6 gigs worth of traffic. The one site that keeps showing up is some sort of link site – the Spanish equivalent of Boing Boing or ebaumsworld. It’s odd, but I’m getting more traffic now than when I…

I feel ST-OOP-ID

The past few days at work, I’ve spent my time studying. Not building or coding anything, just cracking the Moock Actionscript book, along with the Object-Oriented Programming with Actionscript book I got, way back in July. Earlier today, I was making decent progress. I understood most of the core concepts, and was following each example….

Early Morning (again)

Woke up early (again), and went to Filter (again). Instead of making notes on our collaborative project (which I will heretofor refer to as The After-School Project™), instead of studying some tech manuals, I read some poems instead. The book I opened up was the collection that Matt and Juliet gave me, over a month…

First Snow

by Felix Jung When the snowflakes hit, it’s hard to tellif I’m the one they cling to, or if it’sone another. Flagrant lovers, they’ll bind at any opportunity. There’s a solid inchlaid down, a frosted white that makesall surface icing, all concrete, cake. Ahead, I see a wide expanse of nothingnesshalf-clouded by the drifts. My…

Repost

I think I do this every year. But fuck it – I don’t care. What kind of writer would I be if I wasn’t a total egomaniac about my own writing, right? This poem is one of the few that I’ve written, post-MFA, that I’m fond of. And seeing how it snowed today for the…

The Pace On Here, Lately

My apologies. I realize it’s been a little slow, but then again… I’ve felt pretty slow. Ever since this weekend, my energy for updating the blog has been waning. Anymore, when I get home, all I want to do is curl up in bed and sleep. In addition to all the travel recently, I’m guessing…

Light Display

Credit here goes to Ben, who noticed that one of those big spotlight-dealies was parked outside the Mart. They produced a neat effect, what with the steady bit of snow falling outside. We ended up turning down the lights in the office, so we could see it a bit better.

Early Morning, Filter

I woke up super early this morning, and made it over to Filter for some coffee and an early breakfast. I was looking to spent an hour or so, pre-work, to kick around ideas and such for this new site we’re working on collectively. I sat near the window, at the same table as when…

Early Night

Calling it an early night again. I think my body is now wired towards waking up super early, as I’m totally beat. Hopefully I can get caught up on sleep and get back to feeling normal again.

JCB

A long while ago, I mentioned a particular animation of Radiohead’s Creep, as done by Low Morale. Mr. Grumpy brought up this video today, and it’s still a joy to watch. The company that made the video is Monkeehub, and they’ve got a lot of fun work. In particular, I noticed they did another full…

Funeral

A lot of travelling today, back to Indianapolis. My high school orchestra teacher, Richard Dennis, passed away last week… and I went back home to pay my respects. I have a lot more to say, but right now I’m pretty run down. It’s 8PM and I need to call it an early night.
