New Floor Install, Day 1

A lot of planning today, with a majority of the time spent figuring out what needed to be done, measurements for the fireplace tile frame, and framing up all the floor vents.

After work tonight, Liz and I relocated a lot of material… elsewhere. We’ve got the flooring guys coming in a matter of days, and we needed to remove as much excess material (leftover drywall, plywood, wood) as possible.
Worked on the house a bit tonight, after work. I was upstairs, getting insulation around some pipes while Liz was adding insulation to the walls in the first floor bathroom (and along the basement stairs).
Spent Saturday doing a little more work on the house. While Liz was cleaning up the first floor bathroom (vacuuming debris and taking out nails), I was busting out the exterior wall along the stairs that lead to the basement. I was skeptical that any insulation was in the walls (because it’s missing from literally every other wall in the…
While cleaning out a spot underneath the stairs, Liz happened across these two cards. It got us wondering how they ever ended up here in the first place. The stairs currently are carpeted, so this must have happened long ago.
Demo is one thing I feel most comfortable doing, as I’ve gotten the most practice with it. But given the tight quarters, I’ve been moving a lot slower – taking my time to throw things into a nearby trashcan instead of just dumping everything on the ground. Fitting a ladder and a trashcan and a person into a small, half bathroom involved a lot of moving around and squeezing by things.
On Saturday, Liz and I spent the first part of the day working on the house. We have a running to-do list, and one of the bigger tasks is to take down all the walls in the small half bathroom, on the first floor.
