Ballsdurdash: Profanity and Wordy Fun at Ben and Allison’s House
On Saturday, we were invited over to Ben and Allison’s place to hang out, sink some beers, and a little game we like to call Ballsdurdash.

On Friday, Justin, Ben, Chris and I met up with Phil for a quick lunch. His new office is closer to the Mart, so we decided on Perry’s Deli – an old favorite that many of us hadn’t been to in a long while.
Spotted Ben’s shirt yesterday, and couldn’t help but instantly think of the excellent watermelon poem by Charles Simic. Made me smile.
The company I work for, Emmis Interactive, has been hard at work developing a lot of tools for HD Radio. Specifically, Matt, Chris, Allison and Ben have been developing an HD app prototype that’s currently being shown to a lot of broadcasters at the NAB Show, in Las Vegas.
I don’t really have anything of value to say about this. I just wanted to post the photo here.
On Tuesday, there was a ceremony in the afternoon for a big occasion: Ben had hit his 10 year mark at Emmis Interactive, and was to receive his 10-year watch. We had several folks from Emmis Corporate in town yesterday (in particular our CEO Jeff Smulyan, who would be the one to give Ben the watch).
Today was the very last day for Wolff’s Flea Market at the Allstate arena. Chris mentioned having an interest in going, and convinced Leslie to tag along. The night before, I got a call from Ben, also asking to tag along.
The game goes like this: one player looks through the Slang Dictionary and selects a word. They then tell the other players what the word is, and everyone writes down their own definition on a slip of paper. The person who picked the word writes down the actual, real definition. All the slips are turned in, and the person who chose the word has to read all the definitions out loud.
Last March, Ben and Allison had a ” target=”_blank”>lovely wedding, and spent their honeymoon ” target=”_blank”>in Iceland.
Both Allison and Ben are avid photographers, and take some fantastic pictures. It’s easily proven too, since Flickr decided to use some A LOT of their honeymoon photos in a recent ad campaign for Photo Session.
Yesterday morning, Jane gave the most awesome gift to Allison: a fake, knitted beard. Because Allison’s sitting and working with so many of us with facial hair (me, Chris, Justin, Ben)… this fake beard is something she could wear to fit in a little more. What’s hysterical and fantastic is that there are two little loops on either side, which…
For lunch, a group of us headed out to a (semi) nearby Indian place called Chicago Curry House. Today was the official 10-year mark for Ben, as he officially has been an employee of Emmis Interactive for a decade now! To celebrate, a group of us headed out to lunch together. View of the bar. The interior is quite nice,…
On Saturday, Chris, Liz and I headed over to Ben and Allison’s new place! They’re currently in the process of moving in, and the three of us were swinging by to help out with some painting. Inside the front living room, with the door on the left. Great little sunroom in the background. Dining room. I’m not particularly taken with…
Well, not at the same time. Not together. They’re not both… you know what I mean. I’m excited to announce that Ben and Allison are expecting a baby! I learned about the news a little while ago, but have been on radio silence ever since. As of last night, looking over Twitter and Facebook… it appears that the news is…
I’m excited to announce that Chris and Matt Miner have teamed up to create a pretty awesome game/app! It’s called Wiz Kid Jr. and it just became available on the Android Marketplace as of Monday! I got to test out a version of the game a week or two ago, and found it incredibly addictive. There’s a lot to explore…
I found out about Ben’s new haircut (or lack of hair) via his Twitter post yesterday evening. I remember yelping in surprise, and calling Liz to come in to the office to look. Yesterday, thanks to Twitter and Facebook, a lot of folks at work already knew. As Ben walked in, he got a good deal of applause from everyone….
