The speed at which online memes spread has always been amazing. Where we used to have the Streisand effect, we now get viral videos and GIFs. And, with Aviation’s commercial… remarkably deft and quick responses to virality, that in turn become viral themselves for their deftness and quickness.
I’m remembering how, maybe 10+ years ago, I came across videos of famous actors and actresses doing overseas commercials. This might even have been pre-YouTube? At the time, it was a huge novelty – something most of us in the West had never seen before.
This is one of those posts where I realize it’s an ad, but it’s still worth sharing anyways. Happened across the “Making Of” video, and tracked down the original advert. Pretty cool stuff:
Here’s the Making Of video, which shows a lot of what happened behind the scenes. For whatever reason, I assumed the stop-motion involved slowly knitting over things, photographing small segments before someone would come in and knit some more.
Both Allison and Ben are avid photographers, and take some fantastic pictures. It’s easily proven too, since Flickr decided to use
some A LOT of their honeymoon photos in a recent ad campaign for Photo Session.
I don’t know that I would want all my commercials this long, but this was pretty fun. “Product placement gives us a bigger budget. Bigger budget? Bigger explosions.” [via Coudal] Related:Momentary Shame While Renting Movies
So it’s a YouTube kind of day, but this had me cracking up. [via Twelvestone]
