As part of his Xmas gift, Kirt got Jackson a Super Chexx hockey game. I played one of these a decent amount as a kid, growing up in arcades. And it was fun to see one of these guys in person again, after all this time. I was working remote today, but was able to help Kirt move this from…

Fast forward a bit, and we’re all hanging out in the yard. Liz has changed and is back on land. And Anne and I decide to play a few rounds of string golf.

Going out for a big meal like this is not something we normally do. But then again, an 80th birthday isn’t something that happens all that often, either.

Around the tree in the sitting room, Kirt had set up an old model train track. The train cars themselves were all pretty substantive, and suggested to me this was an old set.

A large part of our early visit to Atlanta (in addition to the fact that we can’t make it there this December), is that we were in town to celebrate Kirt’s 60th birthday party. Anne had set up a surprise party, and Kirt was none the wiser.

After church, we went out for a late brunch. Kirt and the girls ended up playing a really silly game (where they pinched his mouth, and forced him to talk and make farting sounds). They were in absolute stitches for a really long time, and it was hysterical to watch both him and their reactions.

I have to say – playing Skee-ball with the kids, they’re all arms and power throws. Every ball is a hail Mary attempt to hit the small “100 point” spot in the corner. And I’ll be damned if they don’t hit it more often than one would think. I was clearly the worst player of the bunch, score-wise.
